Bring New Opera to Life by Supporting VOX
As a central part of New York City Opera’s mission, VOX nurtures emerging American artists and fosters the creation of new American opera. The program allows composers and librettists the opportunity to workshop their compositions, helping them develop their creations into completed works. Ticket sales cover a small portion of the costs of presenting the program, which offers these creators:- - 1 week of rehearsal with City Opera Orchestra and soloists
- - 10-15 hours of vocal coaching by City Opera’s expert artistic staff
- - 3 piano rehearsals with City Opera conducting staff
- - A 20-30 minute reading with professional singers, musicians, and conductors in front of a New York audience
- - Exposure to opera producers, artistic directors, funders, agents, publishers, and national press sources who can help
make a composer’s dream a fully staged reality - - A high quality archival recording of the final reading
