Prima Donna

New York City Opera is proud to announce the US premiere of Rufus Wainwright's Prima Donna in Spring 2012, as part of City Opera's 2011-2012 season. The opera, composed by the Canadian-American singer-songwriter, is written to a French language libretto co-authored with Bernadette Colomine. Full casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Commissioned by Manchester International Festival, Sadler’s Wells, Luminato: Toronto Festival of Arts and Creativity, and Melbourne International Arts Festival. Prima Donna had its world premiere on July 10, 2009 during the Manchester International Festival.
