Opera Is Elementary
The Opera is Elementary program introduces children to the world of opera through an array of engaging, age-appropriate works. Supported by intensive teacher training, in-school workshops and online lesson plans, the Opera is Elementary program is a wonderful introduction to one classic opera each year. With the help of a teaching artist, many schools choose to create their own unique productions based on their New York City Opera experience. Works have included Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Britten’s Paul Bunyan, Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince.
