The Opera is Instrumental program is a one day intensive workshop led by a member of the City Opera conducting staff. It provides advanced high school instrumentalists with the experience of playing operatic repertoire with City Opera singers and collaborating with professional musicians and members of the orchestra.

Vocal Seminar for High School Students
This popular program invites 25 talented singers from area high schools to work on vocal technique, movement, and character development in the "real world" of the professional arts under the careful guidance of City Opera’s musical and dramatic coaching staff. The three-day seminar culminates in a mock audition in front of the same panel of judges who conduct City Opera’s mainstage auditions. The program attracts a very talented caliber of vocal student; participants have included recent Golden Globe Award Nominee Nikki Blonsky (Best Actress, Hairspray).
