Overview
City Opera’s Educational Programming delivers one of the greatest classroom experiences in New York to the city's children. Our teaching artists, visiting theater professionals, and staff engage young minds by relating opera not only to themes in the students' daily lives but also by drawing from a variety of the arts to enrich the experience.
City Opera has been involved in arts education for more than 40 years. As a pioneer in the field, we know firsthand both the immediate and the long-term benefits that students reap from involvement with high-quality art. Not only can students expand their cultural awareness, but they can also find a meaningful outlet for their creativity and develop a deeper understanding of their own lives and of the world around them.
