Internships
Internships available in City Opera's Marketing Department in General Marketing, Group Sales/Events, Corporate Sponsorship, and Retail & Volunteer Services. Ideal opportunity to explore a career at a major performing arts organization and to work together with a busy marketing team. Interns will assist with a variety of research projects, outreach campaigns, ongoing sales projects, proposal writing, special events, and more depending on the focus of the internship. Internships begin mid-January, mid-May, and mid-September for 4 month periods and require a commitment of 20 hours per week. College junior, senior, or grad student preferred, ideally familiar with music, opera, or other performing arts.

Interns are unpaid but will receive a 30-day unlimited MetroCard for each month of the internship as well as complimentary tickets to our operas.
Internship opportunities are also available in City Opera's Development office. Interns will
receive hands-on experience in the areas of Individual and Institutional Giving (which includes corporate
sponsorship), including research, writing and coordinating solicitations and proposals, creating newsletters,
acknowledgments and other donor communications; and in Special Events, staffing galas and donor dinners, coordinating
guest lists, drafting letters and copy for all gala materials, and learning all facets of assembling a gala
fundraiser. Tasks will also include daily development projects, prospecting, and some general clerical duties.
All positions require excellent written and verbal skills. Schedule can be flexible with a minimum of 20 hours
required. Applicants must be proficient in MS Office as well as comfortable with general database applications.

Volunteers
City Opera Volunteers make a priceless contribution to the company–their time. From staffing the Gift Shop
and information tables at performances to conducting backstage tours, providing office support or helping out
with special events, volunteers play an integral role in the Opera's daily activities.
